First Eucharist

Eucharist is a Sacrament of Christian Initiation, as are the sacraments of Baptism and Confirmation. Preparation for the sacrament is an important part of our Family Faith Formation program. Children wishing to prepare for and receive the sacrament of First Holy Eucharist should be enrolled in our full school-year Faith Formation program.

Preparation for and the celebration of the Sacrament of First Holy Communion typically happens in Grade 3 or a child's third full year of Faith Formation. The Diocese of Buffalo directs that children wishing to receive the Sacrament of First Eucharist should first receive adequate Faith Formation learning and sacrament preparation.  If you have any questions about your child's eligibility for receiving First Eucharist, we would be happy to talk with you!

If your child is beyond Grade 3 but has not yet received this Sacrament, please get in touch with the Sacrament Coordination team, we have several options available for your child and family to prepare for and receive this beautiful Sacrament!

Masses dedicated to the celebration of First Holy Communion are held in late April and May. The dedicated First Masses are typically held on Sunday afternoons.
