Back Nativity Parish Reopening Updates
Saturday, May 23, 2020
We are excited to be moving forward with the possibility of gathering again. Please know that all of us at Nativity BVM have both your spiritual and bodily health as our priority in this process.
At this time, we do not have a definitive date for reopening. Here is Fr. Ron's letter from May 23 outlining the current path we are on at this time:
Statement Concerning Reopening
May 23rd 2020
The Nativity of the BVM Parish will not be open for public Mass this weekend.
On Friday, May 22nd our President declared what we already know and believe in our hearts, that Church communities are essential to our life and welfare. We continue to follow and respect the guidelines of our local government officials to carefully reopen our county and state.
While all of us are filled with expectant hope that our doors will soon be opened and we will once again be allowed to gather, the health and welfare of our people and community is a critical concern and under the responsibility of our Bishops, Pastors, and Pastoral leadership.
Earlier this week, we just received the guidance from our Apostolic Administrator of what steps we will need to take, what supplies we’ll need to have on hand and what training we will need to offer to be best prepared to open our doors for limited gatherings.
Our immediate plan is to gather a group of parishioners this week to set up a protocol for the reopening of Nativity. They will work together and follow the diocesan directives to create a safe and equitable process for gathering again for Mass.
As your Pastor, I want you to know that we are doing everything in a prudent and faithful maner to both ensure the physical and spiritual health to protect you, your family and our parish ministry staff. Nativity Parish will remain closed for public Mass this weekend except for smaller funeral and memorial gatherings. We will continue to live stream our Masses and programs. I will keep you posted concerning our progress toward reopening.
