From the Desk of Fr. Ron…….
From our first reading we hear the following: “Is not man’s life on earth a drudgery?” “I have been assigned months of misery.” “My days come to an end without hope.” “I shall not see happiness again.” These words are taken from the Book of Job and are reflections about experiences in his life but they could echo for many the realities in this COVID pandemic.
This apparent surrender to despair is in sharp contrast to the positive energy of the Gospel narrative from Mark. Jesus encounter’s Peter’s mother-in-law who is sick. He heals her immediately and she begins to wait upon Him and His companions. Many come to Him and Jesus gives them the gift of hope and healing. Just after getting away for rest and prayer Jesus is off to yet another location in haste to continue to share the Good News of God’s invitation to an intimate relationship.
St. Paul whole life is an example of swift riding discipleship. With no time to lose, Paul becomes all things to all people so as to save as many as possible.
Team Jesus needs more disciples who are willing to learn, pray, and be willing to be sent out on mission to preach His message of hope and healing. More disciples who are willing to engage in selfless service to their sisters and brothers. May the Lord speak powerfully to the hearts of the faithful. May many more respond positively to the invitation of the Savior.
