What is Catholicism? A 2,000-year-old living tradition? A worldview? A way of life? A relationship? A mystery?
Msgr. Fred Leising and Father John Leising are pleased to invite you to the beginning of a very exciting journey based on the acclaimed documentary film series Catholicism: A Journey to the Heart of the Faith. This groundbreaking ten-part series and study program was developed by Rev. Robert Barron, author, speaker, theologian and founder of the international media ministry, Word on Fire. The series explores not only what Catholics believe and why, but also displays in breathtaking, visual detail the richness of the Church’s global culture. read more...

Despite what is happening in the rhythms of parish liturgical and pastoral life, I am well aware that many parishioners must attend to their own patterns of marriage, family, work, friendships, social and cultural events, all of which can marginalize one’s faith commitment, particularly on the level of deepening personal faith development. read more...

At the heart of Holy Week and Easter is the great mystery of Christ–his Passover (Paschal) Mystery. This is the sacred mystery of his suffering, death and resurrection. This is the mystery that we all become a part of through our Baptism. Jesus became one of us–he lived, he shared human joys and sorrows, he suffered, he faced death, and he was raised from death. Through our Baptism we are incorporated into his mystery. We live, we share the joys and sorrows of human life, we have our own crosses of suffering and sorrow to bear, we face the mystery of death, and we are called through that mystery to new life in Christ (resurrection). read more...

Everyone in the parish is asked to help in assessing how well Nativity meets the needs of parishioners who have a disability.
All are asked to assist in two ways as the parish examines how effectively members with disabilities are included in the life of the church.
The first objective is to reach out to everyone in the parish who may have a disability and to better understand their desired participation in all aspects of parish life, including worship, education, service, and social activities. The hope is to connect with individuals of all ages -- whether their disabilities are temporary or long-term, physical or emotional/behavioral in nature -- and with their families or caregivers.
In addition to obtaining a comprehensive picture of the needs, the second objective is to determine the resources which may be available. read more...

WHAT HAVE WE LEARNED?
Tuesday, May 3, 2011

Msgr. Paa Social Center
Nativity’s 2010-2011 Adult Education program has attempted to bring faith principles, listening, prayer and reflection to bear on some of the controversial issues facing us today. Those issues have included: How does one balance one’s conscience with possible repercussions of reporting malfeasance in the workplace? What are appropriate uses of war and peace as solutions to acts of aggression? What are the proper roles and responsibilites of government, private organizations and individuals to help the poor? What are options for our diocese and parish to achieve positive future growth and development? read more...
